Fine Impressions: Printmaking and Artists' Books in Melbourne 1999- 2010
The rapid rise of electronic information over the past two decades has led many to question the future of the book. At the same time, however, artists, printmakers, letterpress printers, and binders have worked to design and create books that both draw upon and extend the history and tradition of the codex form. This survey looks at the work of some twenty Melbourne artists and printers who have made books that reflect the intrinsic beauty of the form. Working with both traditional and modern methods, they have used the elements of the book - design, typography, paper, binding - to create handmade, limited edition books that re-inforce the uniqueness and mystery of books.

Artists included in the exhibition are Peter Lyssiotis, Martin King, David Frazer, George Matoulas, Angela Cavalieri, Daniel Moynihan, John Ryrie, Carolyn Fraser, Bruno Leti, Gracia Haby & Louise Jennison, Petr Herel, Lyn Ashby, Alan Loney, Francis & Leonie Osowski, Susan Purdy, Inge King, Tommaso Durante, Theo Strasser.
