MONOPRINTING AND MONOTYPING WITH SARAH AMOS AND PETER LANCASTER AT LANCASTER PRESS
SEPTEMBER 4th, 5th, 6th

Peter Lancaster is pleased to introduce a three-day Monoprint Intensive with Master Printer Sarah Amos from the United States in conjunction with IMPACT7 in September 2011.

Peter Lancaster is a renowned Master Lithographer/ artist and is the founder of Lancaster Press, which was established in 1990. Lancaster Press is a Professional Collaborative Press that specializes in working with artists in making Fine Art Lithographs and Monoprints.

Sarah Amos an Australian artist who lives in the US has taken the fine art of Monoprinting to a new level due to her persistent experimentation and her refined aesthetic. Amos is enthralled with the process that she has perfected over 22 years of experience. The multiple plate process and layering technique that Amos primarily uses is a wonderful way to achieve a rich painterly surface with both oil paint and Etching ink.

This 3-day class explores the techniques that are used to create these unique paintings on Paper. Artists will learn the multiple plate system and its registration capabilities, layering and application of paint, stenciling, incorporating water based drawing techniques and how to make larger prints using the French seam technique through a series of demonstrations and class critiques.

The use of Non -toxic materials are also emphasized and discussed at length due to Amos’s heightened sensitivity to such materials during her printmaking career.
Artists can expect to create a body of work (12-20 finished prints) during this 3-day weekend workshop and are encouraged to develop a body of work by themselves but in collaboration with both Master Printers Peter Lancaster and Sarah Amos.

Sarah Amos lives in East Fairfield, Vermont U.S.A and maintains an active exhibition schedule of her own work despite her intense commitment to teaching other Artists. When in Australia she teaches at the Firehouse Print shop in Melbourne.
She shows concurrently at Reeves Contemporary in New York City, Gebert Contemporary in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Flinders Lane Gallery in Melbourne and teaches at Dartmouth College NH Williams College, MA and R.I.S.D. RI Printmaking and Drawing

The fee for the workshop is $450 (inc. GST) plus $30 (inc. GST) for materials.
