‘Words of a Type’ is a series of typographic posters collaboratively developed by designer Annette O’Sullivan and copywriter James Francis. The words written by Francis about wooden type are designed and hand printed by O’Sullivan using wooden type.

They acknowledge the broadsheets and advertising billboards of the early nineteenth century that prompted a departure from lead and the development of printing with wood. The bold headlines evoke more recent memories of newspaper advertising stands announcing the most important headlines of the day. ‘Words of a Type’ is a celebration of wooden type through both the medium and the message
